The National Capital Language Resource Center is excited to announce our 2010 Summer Institutes. Our annual institutes take place in Washington, DC and cover a variety of topics in foreign language teaching and education. We are particularly excited to present a brand-new institute: An Ivory Coast Cultural Immersion in French, held in conjunction with the embassy of Côte d’Ivoire. Information and registration for all our institutes can be found on our website at http://nclrc.org/profdev/nclrc_inst_pres/summer_inst.html. We hope to see you this summer!
National Board Certification is the most highly recognized and rewarding professional development that educators can undertake. In addition to the intrinsic rewards of being a "Master Teacher", the state of Wisconsin reimburses candidates for up to $2000 the year of certification and awards a stipend of $2500 annually to all Nationally Board Certified teachers in the state. NBC's also benefit financially because they are excused from taking additional courses or doing PI34 work for the 10 years following National Board Certification. Unfortunately, French is one of the subjects that has been targeted for possible elimination due to lack of interest! Don't let this marvelous opportunity for advancement disappear. To learn more about the process, go to the National Boards website.
