Excellence in French

About this Award

Purpose:   ​The Excellence in French Award recognizes a student's exceptional commitment to the study of French while maintaining honor grades in all his/her other classes.

 

Eligibility:  ​Recipients must be a non-native speaker who is graduating senior beyond their 3rd year of French study with an “A” average in French and a “B” average in all other classes. Please note that this award is not associated with the AATF National Chapter’s Outstanding High School Senior in French Award.

 

Award:  ​A Certificate of Recognition and a $250 scholarship.

Nomination Procedure:

  1. Nominations can be submitted by AATF members who have indicated "Wisconsin" as their affiliate chapter. If you are unsure of your status, you can log into the national AATF  site (frenchteachers.org) to check. 

    Nominations may also be submitted by a student or a community member without an AATF membership.
     

  2. To nominate a student, please fill out this Nomination Form and include

    • the student’s most recent transcript,

    • a letter written by the you, in French, describing the role French plays in their life and, if applicable, their impact in the classroom

    • a brief essay from the nominee, in French, of 250-500 words, that describes the importance of their French education, its impact on their daily life, and/or the impact it may have on their future endeavors.
       

  3. Nominations are accepted any time throughout the year until December 15 for that calendar year. Nominations received after December 15 will be considered for the following calendar year.
